The confirmed number of Kyrgyzstan casinos is a fact in a little doubt. As details from this state, out in the very remote interior section of Central Asia, can be arduous to receive, this may not be too surprising. Whether there are 2 or 3 approved casinos is the thing at issue, perhaps not in fact the most consequential slice of information that we do not have.

This seems most astonishing, so we can no doubt conclude that the number of Kyrgyzstan’s gambling halls, at least the legal ones, is limited to 2 casinos, 1 of them having altered their name just a while ago.

The country, in common with the majority of the ex-USSR, has undergone something of a accelerated conversion to free-enterprise economy. The Wild East, you might say, to refer to the lawless circumstances of the Wild West a century and a half ago.

Kyrgyzstan’s gambling halls are actually worth visiting, therefore, as a piece of social research, to see dollars being wagered as a form of civil one-upmanship, the apparent consumption that Thorstein Veblen talked about in nineteeth century u.s..
